Day 2 - 11/04/2016 : 41,3 Km - Stage 2 Kick Off Video

"Hi all, tough day today, over 41kms of sand and rocks. I felt very nauseous today, so at checkpoint 3 I checked in to see the medics as I felt that the salt tablets were playing havoc on me, they gave me a rehydration powder, checked my vital signs then trudged on to the finish line. I felt so relieved to get back, I hope my stomach settles down so I can continue on. This clearly is my final ultra, I'm a big pussycat, just give me a pair of slippers and I will gladly retire from these mad adventures ! Dear Sam, I owe you a big holiday, Helen get that bottle of red ready and Nicholas and I can jam in the garage to Mark Knopfler. This event breaks you down in little pieces, the pipe dream of being here and the reality of competing are poles apart. Hopefully, I can continue on and complete my mission, its been a long day need some food and rest. thanks for your support and look forward to coming home to a comfy bed, eating dust and sand all day and night is no fun !!!

Regards, John"

Day 1 - 10/04/2016 : 34 Km - Stage 1 Kick Off Video

"Hi all, what a way to spend a Sunday, crazy sand dunes that seemed to go forever, and sandstorms that never stopped ripping into you. I was so glad to start this morning, this run has been on my calendar for 2 years, so to finally get here after our most difficult 12 months has been emotionally difficult, but with the support of my dear wife Sam and my children Helen and Nicholas we found the strength for me to get to the start line. you havevc-01-1-copyright-99 bd seen the webcam

I feel mentally in tune with how to tackle each stage, checkpoint by checkpoint. Hopefully, , it's a great sight seeing that finish line. The winds are so strong now that all the tents are blowing over, so it's going to be a tough night getting any rest. Time to refuel and power up for stage 2 tomorrow, let's see what the desert throws our way. I appreciate everyone following my crazy adventure, sorry for the sleepless nights, it truly is an incredible place to run through.

Love you all, family, friends, and supporters, take care.

Regards,
John"
